FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
CAN I JOIN A TEAM?
We are often on the look out for new members to join one of our four teams, however, we cannot always guarantee a space will be available. We hold trials each year, around early summer. Please do get in touch if you're looking to play in one of our teams and we can discuss further!
WHAT'S THE COSTS?
Members are required to pay monthly subs of £17.50. This fee contributes towards weekly training (run by our 4 qualified coaches), court hire, equipment and more. In addition to your monthly subs, there are other costs that will arise throughout the year, such as league fees, dress deposits, tournament fees etc. You will also be responsible for arranging and paying your annual affiliation with England Netball. Where possible, the Club will provide members with frequent updates of up and coming costs.
DO I HAVE TO AFFILIATE WITH ENGLAND NETBALL TO PLAY?
Affiliation with England Netball is essential when playing in one of the Local or County leagues (e.g. Exeter & District and East Devon county leagues).
All members take part in activity at their own risk, however, one of the member benefits of affiliating with England Netball is the Personal Insurance cover (see www.englandnetball.co.uk/insurance for more details).
DO I HAVE TO TRAIN TO PLAY IN A TEAM?
Team work makes the dream work, and we pride ourselves on working collaboratively as a team, both in a competitive game environment and during training. We encourage all of our players to attend the weekly training sessions so we can make sure each team is working and developing all of the relevant skills together.
WHERE DO YOU TRAIN AND PLAY?
Our 4 teams train on Thursday evenings at Cranbrook Education Campus.
Exeter & District League games take place at Exeter University covered courts and County games are played across East Devon, with our home venue being Cranbrook Education Campus.
I'VE NEVER PLAYED NETBALL BEFORE, CAN I JOIN?
Our Thursday night sessions are suited to those with previous netball experience, however, we're happy to welcome players who've not played in a number of years and are looking to get back into the game. We will also plan to run 'Netball for Beginners' sessions throughout the year, so keep an eye out on socials for these or get in touch for more information!
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Our Thursday netball training sessions are led by our qualified coaches, for players aged 16+ and are suited to those who have an understanding or prior experience of the game. Sessions are between 1.5-2 hours long and include a variety of group and team drills, skills session, strength and conditioning and, of course, game play! We do not currently operate any junior teams, but this may change in the future!
